Wolf Creek 2 (2013) REVIEW
Cashing in, of course on the surprise hit of the original films, Wolf Creek 2 arrived about three years ago whether we liked it or not. Bringing back of course the central Villain, Mick, played by John Jarratt. Where the first film took a long time to build up dread and tension (which I have to admit did irritate me) this film did the opposite.
Almost straight away, blood and guts are shown in horrific ways. Everything has a rehashed, plastic feel to it. I do have to admit, the psycho bushman is as scary as ever, but this films hams him up ten fold and he begins to become a rather dreary characture of himself. The plot, along with his victims feel random, and plain pointless. The landscapes of Australia are captured well and if it wasn't for the serial killer I'm sure you'd all want to also go back packing there! I have to admit the quieter scenes before he began his rampages felt suspenseful, and even effective but they were soon replaced by ridiculous scenes and plastic body parts flying about.
For an 'easy money' style prequel, this was enjoyable to a point, but it all get slightly tired and predictable and down right confusing. The British tourist played by Ryan Corr tried his best but again the plot line around his character is baffling and he has next to zero character arc which is a shame. This film overall is worth it for a run of the mill slasher, with way more humour than the original but as a result losing the terror factor. 4/10
