THE OSCARS 2016
The Oscars 2016! Here are just some final thoughts on the Oscars this year. Chris Rock, yes we really do get the point that diversity in the nominees was pretty appalling...But was it necessary for every single one of his segments to mention this? His first monologue was pretty great, but by the end of the ceremony the joke had run thin. Also HOW is Chris Rock 51? He could pass for 31. He looks great.
Spotlight won Best Picture, and rightly so! For a film so controversial, it made quite a message, opening the worlds eyes to what really went on. Excellent performances too.
So pleased that Mad Max won so many awards, especially for costume and production design as it was clear so much thought had been put into the overall look and feel of the film! Inside Out won best animated film of course, however I still think it should have been in nominated Best Picture category.
Speaking of which, why did the Academy nominate 8 films for best Picture when it has the ability to nominate to up to 10? Puzzling.
As per my previous post, I was so happy for Leo finally nabbing the Oscar for Best Actor in The Revenant!His speech was just great. Alicia Vikander won for best Actress (I haven't seen Danish Girl yet, but heard great things) she is a great young actress with even greater things to come it seems. Mark Rylance won Best Supporting Actor for Bridge of Spies (don't hate me, but I haven't yet to see this too) - he has been a well loved actor for years, according to reviews he was the best part of the film, so well deserved!
Amy won best Documentary features as I hoped it would aswell. Competition was so tough this year in all categories.
With so many categories and great actors, directors etc, I can't help but feeling that the Oscars need to modernise the way they construct the awards. Perhaps to recognise more films and give more contributors a chance? This could help create more diversity too.
Will it change though? I doubt it somehow. Let me know what you think about this years Oscars, did you air punch when Leo won?
